Did you know there is an easy way to bring the power of Google Search into a Google Doc, and use it to develop your students’ research skills?
The Explore tool lets students search for websites, images and Google Drive files without leaving Google Docs. They also cite the web sources they find with just one click. This makes it very easy for students to quickly gather a range of web sources they might find useful, without having to move in and out of the document. They can then use the Doc to record the information they gain from each source, creating a research document they can use as the basis for their work.

The Explore tool is even more effective when used in conjunction with a research scaffold. This helps develop students’ research skills by encouraging them to summarise, analyse and reflect on the information they find.
