Student Data Security & Google Apps For Education

There have been a few articles in the media lately about Google’s use of student data and whether they mine data from their Google Apps for Education accounts.

I have put together a few resources and links below to help you answer questions from teachers, parents and students.

Last week in our E-Learning Conversation, we asked Suan from Google for a response to these articles.  You can see Google’s response in a blog post outlining what data Google collects from a Google Apps For Education account as well as how they use that data.

You might like to read an article published in the Financial Review.  I was interested in their claim that Microsoft is sponsoring lobby groups to fuel the debate.

Lastly, I came across this interesting blog post with lots of links and information.

What questions are people asking of you about student data mining and how are you answering them?
