The Power of a 30 day challenge

I’m hopping on the 30 day challenge band wagon: here’s why…

Have you ever set a New Years resolution?  How long did it last?

If you are like most people the answer would be less than six days!

I came across this great Ted Talk this week by Matt Cutts about the power of a thirty day challenge.  It has convinced me to stop chasing only big goals, but also focus on the small details.  (Running time 3:27)My favourite quote occurs at 3:01:

“The next 30 days are going to pass whether you like it or not, so why not think about something you have always wanted to try and give it a shot for the next 30 days?”

I must admit that I am the type of person that won’t attempt something that I consider to be insignificant.  I have high expectations, which is a good thing.  However I sometimes miss out on opportunities because they catch my attention or I consider them too small for me to spend my energy on.

The concept of a 30 day challenge has challenged my thinking on this, so I am going to give it a go.  I’ll let you know how I go.

The secret to a successful 30 day challenge is found at 2:00 and 2:35

I would love to run a thirty day challenge with a group of students and witness the outcome.  I have a suspicion that it would be spectacular.

What could you achieve if you just applied yourself for 30 days?
